The food here is flipping fantastic! Creative recipes, homemade ingredients! Not what you would expect from the outside. I am addicted to the Caprese sandwich: deep fried mozzarella balls, tomato jam, pesto mayo, spinach, and balsamic drizzle- it's one of the few veggie options on the menu but I'd have a hard time changing my order- it is so amazing! My partner in crime has explored more of the menu items and hasn't found one he doesn't like. Special shout out for the pork belly burger. Also the fries are the best in the twin ports and the wasabi dipping sauce is super yummy!

Went here on the recommendation of a coworker and I was not disappointed. Food took a little bit to get but we were told that before ordering which I always appreciate. I had the pork belly burger and have been thinking about it ever since. The sweetness of the pork with the bbq sauce and then wasabi was perfect to go with a juicy burger. My wife had a chicken sandwich and enjoyed it very much as well. Won't be our last time coming here.

Drove 2 plus hours to get lunch based on Triple D show. Worth every minute of driving. Played some horseshoes. Looked at Wisconsin's tallest waterfall on way back. The food though. Omg. Great food you would expect in uptown Minneapolis. Not in the middle of the country. Try the pork belly. Ridiculously great!!!

Yummy! Great tap beers, incredible twist to mozzarella sticks- wow!!! Greek salad great, nota speck of ice berg. Pita & cucumber sauce great... Enough for tomorrow's lunch & dinner. Fish fry - good. Bummer: bacon in hush puppies. Plenty of food for vegetarians & pescatarians to choose from. Like others have said; its in the middle of no where! Great music too! NY Dolls, U2, and some nondescript old rock.

Wow wow wow wow. Great food and great small town atmosphere. Pork belly sandwich was amazing. It may change your life. Oriental steak wrap was very Asian (that's a good thing in my book). The chili on the chili burger had great flavor and spice. The onion strings were light and very well seasoned. The only reason it is not a five star is finding two hairs in the chili. Understand things happen and we probably eat more hair than we know. But when you find one, it takes it down a notch. However, we will no doubt be back.

Ok. Do you see Where this place is? Really? in the middle of nowhere. Really nowhere. I was heading home from Winnipeg to Kingston and thought what the hell?I found it with my GPS otherwise I never would've found it. About 4 o'clock in the afternoon in the dead of winter and guess what? Almost no one's there! okay, there were two ladies at the bar taking a break from their job at the local penitentiary. They were quite pleasant and I was - careful. We had the soup of the day. I can't tell you what it was - chicken, cheese, I don't know. All I know is it was the best soup I have ever had. Seriously. And then I had the pork belly sandwich. Let's start with the easy part - the fries were terrific - lots of them homemade, beautiful. Sandwich - OMG. Mouth - dissolving, delectable, tasty, heaven. Words don't describe. Julie had the chilliburger but she said was delicious. I couldn't try it, I had to eat my own. My final comment - go! Hurry!

Went out for dinner with a group of friends on a Saturday night recently (6 people). We got reservations and were seated right away. Service was extremely slow - but perhaps only for our table. We were there nearly 3 hours, our one appetizer not arriving to our table until well into our second hour there. Waitress was apologetic and we were understanding but we were filled up on beer by the time our slightly incorrect orders made it to our table and the restaurant was near empty. Seemed everyone else had no trouble getting served in a timely manner. 5/6 of us were pleased with our meals, one thought everything was just extremely seasoned - think Lawry's seasoning salt. Would go back, the place is kinda novelty in the fact it's on the outskirts of Superior (not as in the middle of nowhere as some claim) and the variety and creativity on the menu you wouldn't expect to find at a place like this. The service could have simply been improved on by not having the newest waitress take the biggest table on a busy Saturday night. Will be back to try something else on the menu!

The food is phenominal, portions are big. The deconstructed ruben is AMAZING. However with out a friendly staff for me it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The 1st time we visited an older lady was so incredibly rude I didn't want to go back, but with the food being so good we decided to give it another try. We sat at the bar this time and although better service it was still not good service. No one smiles etc. You sit at a bar with only one other customer there you'd think the bartender would engage more. I will recommend them for the food but don't expect hospitality! ! Altho there was a for sale sign out front so who knows if it will even last!

Poor service with lack of flexibility regarding options. Food average. There for birthday celebration with no regard from staff

As someone who has lived in Duluth/Superior my whole life, I had always heard that the Quarthouse had pretty good food.. but when I'm hangry (so hungry I'm angry) I really don't want to take the 20+ drive out to county road K to eat.... What a fool I've been!!! A couple weeks ago, when we were on our way home from Bayfield's AppleFest, we decided that since we'd sort of be going by there anyway, we might as well stop in and see what all the fuss was about. Since then...I've been to the Quarthouse about twice a week. I drag EVERYONE who invites me out to eat there. Most recently, my partner and I went there for a bite before going to a movie... (spoiler alert...we were so full from eating, we had to skip the movie for fear of lapsing into a carbo coma and missing the movie)... We shared the 'You've Been Fried" appetizer.... white cheddar and bacon mac & cheese that gets breaded and deep fried. It's served with a tomato jam that will knock your socks off. I don't even like tomatoes, and I ended up eating what was left in the ramekin with a spoon. I had the Chili Cheese Chicago Dog for my meal. These aren't your normal anorexic, anemic hot dogs. These are 1/4 pound jumbo dogs that look more like a polish sausage than a hotdog. If that wasn't good enough, they wrap it in applewood smoked bacon and then DEEP FRY it!!! Sweet. Baby. Jesus. It's so good! Then they toast the bun, slather the whole mess in a giant pile of homemade chili and cheese. I could literally hear my arteries hardening as I ate it...and I didn't care! To hell with my cardiologists orders...this can't be missed! If you're local and you haven't been....then go. Don't miss out for 40+ years like I did. If you're visiting...go. Honestly....the Ariel Lift Bridge will still be there tomorrow...but the beer battered bacon is only on special.

I've been in Duluth/Superior for five days now and it's very hard to find a restaurant with good food and/or good service. The Kounty Quarthouse is different. The people were very nice and engaging and the food was also very good. We enjoyed splitting a Hot Brown and fried mozzarella. I'd encourage anybody visiting Duluth/Superior to eat here because the most restaurants in the area kinda sucked the big one.

Kawika and the Minnesota Burger Posse rolled into the Quarthouse the other day. Located off US Highway 2, about 15 miles south of Duluth/Superior. An establishment that dates all the way back to Prohibition, The Kounty Quarthouse specializes in an "updated" American menu, but with full dinner service available as well. (Spoiler alert). The posse don't understand why this place isn't packed all the time, tho they opined it might be that "looks are deceiving" and from the outside, this looks like your typical Upper Midwest country tavern. Inside, it's warm, inviting, with a totally made from scratch menu, with big servings. The Chef/owner is the former owner of the popular Savorie's catering in Duluth. The posse started with deep fried bacon, which they liked. They also tried the burger sliders with onion rings, commenting that the rings were delightful, reminiscent of the canned ones we all love, except fresh and larger. Steak tacos were the Tuesday special and well received. They reported the cheesecake as "phenomenal." Especially taken by the creative approach to the reuben, the sandwich is served between two potato pancakes in lieu of bread, with tart and crispy red cabbage. It seems worth the drive for a date nite or weekend change of pace. Directions and their menu are online.

What a disappointment. We went there last night, just 4 of us, and sat at our table for about an hour and a half before we got our food. 2 of our party sat for about 15 minutes before the server bothered to come by. The service was deplorable. I would guess about 20 minutes would go by before our server would even come back to our table. It seems the goal here is to get you drunk before you eat so everything tastes good. We arrived at 6 o'clock and left about 8 20....twenty minutes were spent eating. Between the four of us we had the ribeye steak, steak medallions, pork belly burger, and the Caprese sandwich. On both steaks it was clear the only source of flavor was from the marinade. My steak was refrigerator cold. I could have returned it I guess had the server bothered coming back to our table before all of my dinner guests were almost done eating. We might go back and try it one more time and try something else but probably not around dinner time. It is so disappointing to hear so many good things about a place only to find that level of incompetency. LET'S BE REAL.... Has no one honestly smelled that odor of backed up sewer near the bar and washrooms? Really? Yuck yuck yuck.
